Listen to the Experts - new EP by ELEVEN onzelf

The berlin based jazz funk trio ELEVEN onzelf just released their EP “Listen to the Experts”. The EP contains 5 original tracks from 2023 and 2026, featuring different artists from the Berlin jazz scene.

The two older tracks, "Empty Seats" and "In a Way," illustrate the diversity of composition and mood that characterizes the music of ELEVEN onzelf: Empty Seats is a notably groovy track with soulful vocals, In a Way feels like and excessive pop music trip.
"Before Daylight" is a live studio recording from 2025 featuring the guitarist Augusto Sinesi and the bassist Seth Sjöström. The song is a repetive, rhythmic odd meter journey with soul/gospel athmosphere.

“Not in June” (August 2026) sticks out with its detailed and creative production and collaboration with the saxophonist Artur Rutkevich. It has a groovy, warm and nostalgic vibe with RnB elements and lots of rich sounds and details. It made it to the official Groover Charts and has received much positive criticism (see section “listener reviews”).

The EP was concluded on September 11 with the title track “Listen to the Experts”, a song that thematizes mistrust in science and mistrust among each other. Listening to this song is like a rollercoaster ride: the rhythm and energy build up, and then suddenly, everything takes a sharp turn. It feels like an agitated jazz fusion ride in modern coolness. The music video about cyber security, surveillance and hacking turned “Listen to the Experts” into a cinematic soundtrack. While the subject is rather dark, the video is full of fun surprises and it's (just like the music of ELEVEN onzelf) a piece of art that leaves space for interpretation and differentiation.

"Original and diverse, and also very listenable and exciting." (Branimir Lokner)
“A groovy acid-jazz track that undoubtedly epitomizes an unique sound. The songwriting, composition, recording, production, and arrangements are not merely a tribute to the glory days of the past, but a forward-looking testament of today's talent.” (Radio Kaos)
“So timely and full of personality, the rhythm and all the energy really get into the listener’s mind and body and get the message across.” (Pop Cyber)

„This is truly a brilliant and creatively ambitious record. We absolutely loved listening to it, and we're genuinely blown away by how genius and unique the record feels. The songwriting, musicianship, production, and overall creative fusion are incredibly impressive, and there's so much detail and character throughout the song.“  (Adityaa Bagus)

“ELEVEN onzelf is jazz that blends naturally with other genres. Sure, it's jazz, but there's soul in it. And funk, lots of funk.”

ELEVEN
ELEVEN is the band project of pianist and songwriter Nora Jim. During its six years of existence, the band changed its members and styles adapting to new musical ideas, while keeping the original spirit of the compositions alive.

ELEVEN duo / trio
ELEVEN was created as a acoustic avantgarde duo by Nora Jim (piano, vocals) and Sébastien Degueldre (electric bass).
Originally  from Belgium, the duo came to Berlin and started to play with the chiliean drummer Sebastián Rosales Morandé (ELEVEN trio).
After their previous releases “Dreamer” and “Last Year Again”, they recorded an EP „Hot Lake“ with a life video session in 2021.

ELEVEN onzelf
By 2023, with the release of their singles "Empty Seats" and "In a Way," the band found an energetic, electric, crisp sound, which continues to define them today. ELEVEN onzelf (11 in English, French/Spanish, German) became the name for the jazz fusion band.
With Yonatan Harari as their new bass player, they continue their journey on various stages all over Berlin, producing new (and even more groovy) music and collaborating with various artist of the scene. This summer (2026) they unfolded a new EP “Listen to the Experts” with the singles “Before Daylight” and “Not in June”.
